Should adults get sealants on their teeth?
Hi there, Despite being recognized as a procedure geared toward children, there are some unique positives to dental sealants. Regardless of age, everyone is susceptible to tooth decay. Sealants can therefore decrease this occurrence in anyone who chooses to receive them. Sealants also prevent food and plaque from gathering in grooves and depressions on tooth surfaces, further reducing one's risk of decay as the sealants leave bacteria no place to grow. Ultimately, dental sealants are a great form of preventive maintenance. Spending a little money upfront ensures neglected areas won't result in costly dental procedures down the road. Hope it answers your question. READ MORE
How do dentists put sealants on teeth?
Hi there, The American Dental Association (ADA) suggests sealant application is a simple, painless process: First, the tooth's surface is cleaned and dried. Then, an "acidic gel" is applied briefly to roughen the tooth surface to help the sealant adhere to your natural tooth. Shortly after, the dental hygienist will rinse the gel and dry the tooth before applying the sealant. After the water rinse, the tooth surface is dried and the sealant is applied. A blue light is then used to solidify the sealant on to the tooth. Hope it answers your question. READ MORE
Is a fissure sealant a filling?
Hi there, Sealants are not the same as a filling. Sealants are preventative measures that are designed to help avoid tooth decay in the molars of children or adults. They are optional treatments intended to fill in the grooves and crevices found in the molars of most people, providing protective shields for the tooth enamel of each tooth that they cover. The sealant blocks out food particles on the back teeth (molars and premolars), preventing them from becoming trapped in these crevices, thereby avoiding unnecessary tooth decay. Fillings are restorative measures that are taken to repair the damage created by tooth decay in an existing tooth. They are used by dentists to fill in the hole created by tooth decay. Naturally, the decay is completely removed prior to the placement of the dental filling. Hope it answers your question. READ MORE
How long do stitches stay in after dental implants?
Hi there, Suture removal depends on the material and extension of the procedure. The stitches should stay for a period of 7-10 days. Some stitches are resorbable and don't need to be removed. Generally, the dentist explains it to you after the procedure is completed. Hope it answers your question. READ MORE
How do I get rid of thrush naturally?
Hi there, The goal of any oral thrush treatment is to stop the rapid spread of the fungus, but the best approach may depend on your age, your overall health and the cause of the infection. Eliminating underlying causes, when possible, can prevent recurrence. It is very important to identify the underlying causes before any treatment: When did you begin experiencing symptoms? Have you recently taken antibiotics for an infection? Do you have asthma? If so, do you use a steroid inhaler? Do you have any long-term health conditions? Do you have any other new symptoms of illness? Lifestyle and home remedies These suggestions may help during an outbreak of oral thrush: Practice good oral hygiene. Brush and floss regularly. Replace your toothbrush often until your infection clears up. Don't share toothbrushes. Disinfect dentures. Ask your dentist for the best way to disinfect your dentures to avoid reinfection. Try warm saltwater rinses. Dissolve about 1/2 teaspoon (2.5 milliliters) of salt in 1 cup (237 milliliters) of warm water. Swish the rinse and then spit it out, but don't swallow. Use nursing pads. If you're breast-feeding and develop a fungal infection, use pads to help prevent the fungus from spreading to your clothes. Look for pads that don't have a plastic barrier, which can encourage the growth of candida. Wear a clean bra every day. Ask your doctor about the best way to clean your breast nipples, bottle nipples, pacifiers and any detachable parts of a breast pump if you use one. Disinfect inhalers before and after using it. Hope it answers your question. READ MORE
