Get to know Hematologist-Oncologist Dr. Waqas Rehman, who serves patients in Flemington, New Jersey.

Being a respected hematologist-oncologist, Dr. Rehman specializes in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of blood diseases such as anemia, hemophilia, sickle-cell disease, leukemia, and lymphoma. He is in practice with Hunterdon Hematology Oncology in Flemington, New Jersey, and remains an active investigator in the Hunterdon Regional Cancer Center Clinical Trials Program.

Hunterdon Hematology Oncology is a community oncology group that is dedicated to fighting cancer in this community and across the region. The doctors, physician’s assistants, and nurses work tirelessly and fight hard so that their patients can win. 

On the subject of his educational background, Dr. Rehman graduated from Northeast Ohio Medical University where he completed an accelerated honors program in medicine. Upon graduation, he completed his residency in internal medicine and his fellowship in hematology/oncology from University Hospitals/Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio.

During his time at the Case Comprehensive Cancer Center, he participated in extensive basic science and clinical research with a special interest in novel drug development. His work has been published in peer-reviewed scientific journals and presented across national meetings. 

A member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the American Society of Hematology, Dr. Rehman has served as President of the Hunterdon County Medical Society of New Jersey. 

Dedicated to clinical excellence, the doctor is board-certified in internal medicine, hematology, and medical oncology by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Hematology is the branch of medicine concerned with the study of the cause, prognosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases related to blood. Oncology is a branch of medicine that deals with the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer. A hematologist-oncologist is a physician who specializes in the diagnosis, treatment, or prevention of blood diseases and cancers such as iron-deficiency anemia, hemophilia, sickle-cell disease, leukemia, and lymphoma.
