Dr. Brian P. Jacob, a distinguished minimally invasive general and bariatric surgeon, has been at the forefront of hernia surgery for over a decade. A 1998 graduate of Wayne State University School of Medicine, Dr. Jacob completed his surgical residency at Mount Sinai Medical Center in 2003 and pursued a fellowship at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital in 2004. 

Board certified by the American Board of Surgery, Dr. Jacob’s expertise has been acknowledged by numerous prestigious organizations. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), serving as the Chair of its Social Media Subcommittee. In addition, he serves on the Board of Governors for both the Society of Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons and the Americas Hernia Society, and sits on the Committee for Patient Safety in the American Society for Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery.

Beyond his surgical practice, Dr. Jacob is a prolific author and co-author of book chapters and articles on a range of surgical topics, including robotic surgery, hernia repair, and obesity. His groundbreaking work on single incision laparoscopic TEP inguinal hernia repairs in the USA has set new standards in the field. His contributions to surgical literature include co-editing “The SAGES Manual on Hernia Repair” and co-writing “The SAGES Manual of Groin Pain,” showcasing his leadership in surgical education.

Recognized as one of the best hernia surgeons in New York City by The New York Times Magazine for 12 consecutive years, Dr. Jacob’s commitment to excellence extends beyond his surgical practice. He is a respected member of the Worldwide Registry and has been listed by Castle Connolly Medical Ltd. in New York Magazine as a Top Doctor (2012 – 2023).

Dr. Jacob has achieved global recognition as the pioneering surgeon who revolutionized surgical education.
