Get to know Pediatrician Dr. Krisztina Bukur-Doczy, who serves patients in Massachusetts.

As a pediatrician at Newton Pediatrics and a mother herself, Dr. Bukur-Doczy provides families with effective strategies for balancing the demands of work and life and with creating a nurturing and healthy work and home environment. 

Newton Pediatrics is a full-service practice with offices located in Newton Centre, Wellesley and Waltham, Massachusetts. It delivers state-of-the-art health care while overseeing and coordinating with affiliated providers. The mission of the practice is to remain dedicated to a child’s physical, mental, and emotional well-being. It offers additional specialties in travel medicine, behavioral health, and environmental health.

Her hospital affiliations include Newton-Wellesley Hospital and Boston Children’s Hospital. Newton Pediatrics is part of the PPOC, the Pediatric Physicians’ Organization in partnership with Boston Children’s Hospital. This partnership allows them great collaboration with the more than 100 other practices and tapping into the knowledge base of the specialists at BCH.

Beginning her medical studies at age 18 in Sweden, Dr. Bukur-Doczy graduated with her medical degree from the Faculty of Medicine at Lund University in 1994. She then relocated to the United States, continuing her graduate studies at Boston University in immunology and pathology. 

A researcher at the Albert Einstein School of Medicine, her residency was completed at the University of Illinois. 

Beyond the usual clinical training, Dr. Bukur-Doczy’s scientific research in pathology, immunology, and microbiology give her deep insight into pediatric medicine, and a strong foundation for travel medicine.

Specializing in the health care of children, she is board-certified in pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP). The mission of the ABP is to advance child health by certifying pediatricians who meet standards of excellence and are committed to continuous learning and improvement.

In good standing with a number of professional organizations, Dr. Bukur-Doczy is an active member of the American Academy of Pediatrics (Chapter 1), the Massachusetts Medical Society, and the International Society of Travel Medicine.  

Dr. Bukur-Doczy provides expert advice to a large number of international travelers each year and Newton Pediatrics is  #1 referral office from Boston Children’s Hospital. She is involved in nurse practitioner training through Georgetown University. Pediatrics is the branch of medicine that involves the medical care of infants, children, and adolescents. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends individuals be under pediatric care up to the age of 21. Pediatricians provide medical care to people ranging in age from newborns to young adults. They are trained to examine, diagnose, and treat children with a wide variety of injuries and illnesses through all of their developmental stages, as they grow and mature.

On a more personal note, Dr. Bukur-Doczy lives in the area with her husband and their three children, who attend Newton Public Schools. She speaks multiple languages, including English, Swedish, Hungarian, and Romanian.
