Dr. Bellur earned his medical degree from Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, Belgaum located in India. He completed his residency in internal medicine at the State University of New York at Stony Brook, followed by his fellowship in cardiovascular diseases at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.
Dr. Bellur is board-certified in cardiovascular diseases and interventional cardiology by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.
Dr. Bellur is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology. Fellowship is one of the most distinguished designations the College offers its members. It is the ultimate recognition of professional achievement. Dr. Bellur is a member of the Texas Medical Association, the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions, and the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology. Additionally, Dr. Bellur was the recipient of the Patient’s Choice Award in 2011, 2012, and 2013.
Interventional cardiology is a branch of cardiology that deals specifically with the catheter-based treatment of structural heart diseases. Interventional cardiologists specialize in treating a range of heart and vascular conditions through a process called catheterization.
