A Well-Respected Physician Leading the Charge in Cardiology Excellence in the St. Louis Area

Dr. George Kichura a distinguished cardiologist at St. Louis Heart and Vascular, has been acknowledged for his exceptional medical skills and leadership in the field. With over 30 years of experience, Dr. Kichura has solidified his reputation as one of the top physicians in the greater St. Louis region.

Hailing from Brooklyn, New York, Dr. Kichura has dedicated his entire medical career to serving the community in Missouri and Illinois. He is associated with prestigious healthcare institutions such as Missouri Baptist Medical Center, Christian Northeast Hospital, and St. Luke’s Des Peres Hospital.

Dr. Kichura’s educational journey began at Washington University in St. Louis, where he excelled in the College of Arts & Sciences and graduated with honors. He further pursued his passion for medicine at the University of Missouri School of Medicine, graduating with a Medical Degree and receiving the honor of being elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. His postgraduate training took him to St. John’s Mercy Medical Center in St. Louis for his internship and residency, followed by a cardiology fellowship at Saint Louis University School of Medicine, where he distinguished himself as chief fellow.

In addition to his extensive training, Dr. Kichura completed a specialized fellowship in interventional cardiology at Washington University School of Medicine and continued his education with training and board certification in clinical lipidology. He also holds multiple board certifications in internal medicine, cardiology, and interventional cardiology, underscoring his commitment to excellence in patient care. He is also involved in multiple clinical trials as a primary investigator with a focus on improving cardiovascular outcomes for patients. His commitment to patient care led to him being awarded the Hugh D. McCulloch Award in 2014 for significant contributions toward the AHA’s mission of building healthier lives. 

As a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC), the American Heart Association (FAHA), the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions (FSCAI), and the American College of Physicians (FACP), and as a former president of the American Heart Association (AHA) board of directors in the greater St. Louis region, Dr. Kichura stands out as a leader in his field. His active involvement in professional organizations and his current role as the State STEMI leader for the Missouri Time Critical Diagnosis program for heart attack, stroke, and trauma exemplify his dedication to advancing cardiovascular care in the region.
