My ENT found a mass in my neck. What could it be?
There are multiple organs and structures that are located or pass through neck, so it's very important to exactly mention the location and size of the mass. For example, at the front of the neck, you have a thyroid and if there is a swelling in the front of the neck, it could be an enlarged thyroid gland, lymphatic chains pass on both sides of the neck, so sometimes an enlarged lymph node appears as swelling on the sides of the neck. The results of my urine sample was vague. Did I give a bad sample?
The term "vague" does not describe actually what the result was reflecting; was there a comment about urine? Urine sample reporting depends a lot on the proper collection of the urine sample, especially when collected for a urine culture in suspected cases of infection. What is the platelet count for which a dengue test is recommended?
The lower limit for normal is 150 X10(9)/liter or 150 millions per milliliter of blood. Usually, levels lower than the normal value raise a suspicion, especially when associated with a febrile illness. How does a urine test differ from a saliva test?
Results may differ because urine is basically an excretory product of the body and it may never reflect normal concentrations of body constituents. Saliva and blood are amongst the body fluids and they may reflect the concentrations of these in a better manner. READ MORE

Normally, it takes 3 days to report urine cultures. Sometimes, due to slow growing organisms, it might take longer, especially in hospitalized or catheterized patients where the results are of greater importance. Lab report is always more accurate as these are done on proper venous blood samples and tests are done on quality controlled machines. Most devices test glucose levels from finger prick (capillary blood) which may not be the best sample for accurate results. Good devices should not differ by more than 10-15% from lab reports.
