Unfortunately, there is no medical or surgical intervention that has been shown to be effective for treatment of high-pitched ringing. Acoustic sedation measures of the best methodology as well as potentially biofeedback mechanisms. Over-the-counter medications are not useful. READ MORE
Is it safe to clean my ears with hydrogen peroxide?
We do not recommend cotton tip applicators to cleanse the external ear. Topical use of hydrogen peroxide softens external ear canal plaques which needs then to be irrigated clear. Use of warm water irrigation is helpful after use of the peroxide cleansing solutions. READ MORE
Can a sinus infection go away on its own?
The majority of sinus infections and inflammations are temporary and presumed secondary to an acute viral incident. Bacterial infections are infrequent and for the most part sinus symptoms can be alleviated with the use of topical saline irrigations. READ MORE

I have a sore inside my nose. How can this be treated?
Most nasal sores are due to irritation and inflammation of the follicles inside the nasal aperture. Use of a topical antibiotic 2 times per day on the area should quiet down the discomfort. READ MORE
Can mold exposure cause an ear infection?
The mold you see near the air conditioner is not usually airborne. Other agents provoke the nasal congestion and possible adenoid inflammation, which can then block the eustachian tubes leading to obstruction and secondary infection of the middle ear. READ MORE

There is a strange smell from my phelgm everytime I spit it out. Could there be a problem?
Increased mucus production, occurs with respiratory tract infections in theq nose and sinuses. This may also discharge to the back of the throat. Mucus is not harmful but sometimes has a distinct smell when the mucus becomes thicker. My nose is runny and I snore. What can I do?
Probably time to seek an opinion with ear nose and throat physician who can probably evaluate your symptoms of nasal discharge and reasons of chronic snoring. Sleep apnea syndrome does not seem to be your problem, snoring is usually due to vibration of the soft palate and tongue retraction. Can nasal sprays be addictive?
Many decongestant type over-the-counter nasal sprays lead to a syndrome of refractory nasal congestion for which the use of the topical sprays are potentially addictive in a different sense. They become more of a habit rather than a true addiction. They cause a “rebound” phenomenon leading to the use of the spray on a regular basis to open the nasal airway. READ MORE
Is seasonal allergies a lifelong problem?
Seasonal allergies usually diminish over a number of years. The immune system begins to recognize the common pollens causing the allergic reaction and the body develops antibodies to overcome the allergic reactions. Generally allergies of the seasonal type diminish with time as the number of the antibodies increase after exposure. Practicing ear, nose and throat medicine and surgery for over 39 years with passion for treating adults and children of all ages, Dr. Hadley works in the office of Dr. Mark Montgomery at the ENT Specialty Care Center in Bonita Springs, bringing evidence-based medical treatment to patients in Lee and Collier counties in Florida. He specializes in medical and surgical care of patients with general otolaryngology problems and with an emphasis in medical and surgical treatment of diseases of the nose and paranasal sinuses as well as head and neck surgery.
In regards to his educational background, he received his medical degree from the University of Bordeaux II Faculty of Medicine in France in 1979. After completing his medical internship at Greenwich Hospital (Yale) and his surgical internship at Saint Raphael’s Hospital (Yale), he went on to complete his residency in Otolaryngology - Head and Neck surgery at the University of Rochester Medical Center in 1983.
Subsequent to his education, the doctor attained board certification in otolaryngology through the American Board of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, which is a non-profit corporation that has set the mission of ensuring professional standards with certificates and memberships and has offered training in the fields of head neck surgery to professionals since 1924.
Achieving fellowship status, Dr. Hadley is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), Fellow of the American Rhinologic Society (FARS), Fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy (FAAOA), and Fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngology - Head & Neck Surgery (FAAO-HNS).
Among his other roles, he has served as an attending physician at the Naples Community Hospital since 2017. In the past, he maintained hospital privileges at the Landmark Hospital of Naples (2017-2021), Physicians Regional Medical Center (2010-2018), Unity Health System Hospitals (1990-2010), and Rochester General Hospital (1983-2010).
With a passion for teaching, Dr. Hadley is a Professor of Otolaryngology at the University of Central Florida, and served as an accredited full professor at the University of Rochester Medical Center for over 30 years.
Otolaryngology is the oldest medical specialty in the United States. Pediatric otolaryngologists are primarily concerned with medical and surgical treatment of ear, nose, and throat diseases in children. They generally provide the following services: diagnosis and treatment of ear, nose, and throat disorders, as well as head and neck diseases.
Highly regarded by his peers and patients, Dr. Hadley has been nominated among Castle Connolly’s "America's Top Doctors" (2006-2022), and awarded "Best Doctors" for the past 18 years. He has also been the recipient of the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award (2018), Distinguished Service Award for Meritorious Service from the American Academy of Otolaryngology Head & Neck Surgery Foundation (2004, 2018), Golden Head Mirror Award for Excellence in Teaching by the American Rhinologic Society, the American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy Golden Apple Award for Excellence in Teaching, Florida Top Doctor Award (2017-2022), Top Doctor Award by Gulfshore Magazine (2012-2021), Patients' Choice Award (2020, 2018), Compassionate Doctor Recognition (2020, 2018), and On-Time Doctor Award (2020).
