Is a root canal during pregnancy safe?
Having a root canal done during pregnancy is completely safe. Your doctor will cover you at the time of xrays to protect the baby. The anesthetic is safe. As far as how far you can push the envelope, we would not be able to tell you with certainty because it depends on how advanced the problem is already. If the tooth is already abscessed , pain and inflammation will follow. READ MORE
Can I whiten my teeth with baking soda alone?
I will be happy to answer your question. No. Baking soda will not hurt your gums. Instead, it can increase the pH of your mouth which in return, decreases your risk of cavities if you do everything else right. Hydrogen peroxide can help whiten your teeth but it will take a long time considering that the concentration of the over the counter form is only 3 percent. The other problem I see is that long term use may kill the good bacteria in your mouth leaving you vulnerable for opportunistic infections. Oxygen can be, believe it or not a poison for live cells!
