  • Why do I keep getting an ingrown toenail?

There are ways. When they do the procedure do they use the acid to try and burn the nail matrix (root). If the acid isn’t used then the nail will always return. There is a surgical procedure that can require stitches where the nail matrix is surgically excised. READ MORE

  • I have had repeated sprains in my ankle. Will it keep happening? What can I do?

You could have some damage in the lateral ankle ligaments. Which have never seemed to heel properly. An MRI will be able to help determine how those ligaments healed. During activities you may need an ankle brace to prevent them from happening. Another route would be surgery to reconstruct those ligaments (If they are torn or stretched). READ MORE

  • I have pus-filled white bumps around my ankle. What could this be?

It can be what is called piezogenic papules, which is just fat that herniates through the dermis of you skin. If they aren't painful, no need to worry about them. READ MORE

  • Is dipping feet in hot water with Epsom salt supposed to help my heel spurs?

Warm water may help relieve your discomfort, but will do nothing for the heel spurs. Sometimes, it may not be the heel spur that is causing you your pain. There is a ligament known as your plantar fascia that could have inflammation and causing some of your pain. Treatment options are physical therapy (stretching), injections, inserts (orthotics) steroids and or surgery. Hope this helps. READ MORE

  • Are there any side effects of wearing acupuncture slippers for a long time?

I do see them causing issues if worn for a prolong time. If those feel comfortable and reduce your discomfort then a pair of inserts may benefit you in a pair of shoes. READ MORE

  • What is the best way of recovering from a sprain?

The best therapy is to rest, ice, compression, and elevation. Sometimes an ankle brace may help. Hope this helps. READ MORE

  • Foot pain in the morning

It sounds like you have plantar fasciitis which is inflammation of the fascia under the heel. The inflammation is what makes the first step(s) in the morning the most painful. There are ways to treat it by changing shoes, adding inserts, stretching, icing, OTC NSAIDs, injections and other options. Once the inflammation is gone the pain should go away. READ MORE

  • Ingrown toenail surgery now have thick ridged nails

Is it only the big toes that are thick and yellow? There are a couple of reasons why it happened. 1) If the nail matrix (root) is damaged in anyway it will grow back different. Possibly thick, yellow and such. 2) It would be a fungal infection. The best way to know for sure would to have a biopsy of the nail which is just a simple clipping. There are different treatments out there for either case. Hope this helped. READ MORE

  • Is hammertoe genetic?

It is true that some of these foot problems are genetic and most likely since your mom had these problems you may develop some as well. There are hammertoe pads or crest pads out there that will help bring the toe down so it no longer rubs against the shoe. There are a few in office procedures that can be done to help prevent it but it depends if the hammertoe is a rigid or flexible. Rigid will usually require surgery. READ MORE
