Can I keep my child from developing Type 1 diabetes?
If there is a predisposition to Type 1 diabetes and your child is pre-programed to have it would be difficult to completely avoid it but in my experience and most of Type 1 Diabetes Patients have severe Vitamin D deficiency at the time of Diagnosis. Although there is not yet been any evidence yet to connect the two together, I suggest my Patients to keep their Vitamin D levels above 50. For predisposed People it is also advisable to avoid burdening their Pancreas with sugar and alcohol. READ MORE
Should I be checked for thyroid cancer?
Yes it is advisable for you to get yearly or every two yearly an ultrasound of your Thyroid. If any time point in life you develop nodules in your Thyroid they should be further examined by an Endocrinologist or a Nuclear Medicine Expert. From the standpoint of Naturopathic Medicine it is advisable to take regular Iodine Supplements because the Iodized Salt is not enough for the requirement of many people. READ MORE
Can I get diabetes from eating sugar?
It depends if you have a predisposition to it. It would be difficult to answer your question how much is too much but in general it is advisable to use a mix diet conation Fats, Carbohydrates and Proteins. EXCESS Sugary drinks, eating high amounts of chocolates and/or high sugar containing Fruits like Grapes could initiate Diabetes if you have family disposition for the disease. READ MORE
