I have a slight pain in my elbows and I don’t understand what is causing it. What should I do?
Elbow pain can be caused by several different conditions such as tendinitis, degenerative joint disease, arthritis and a pinched nerve in the neck, to name the most common. A good history of your condition, an exam and a neck x-ray (if needed) could help determine what we are dealing with. From there we could decide the appropriate treatment: laser therapy, shockwave therapy, spinal manipulation or decompression therapy. READ MORE
Stinging pain inside the neck
I would suggest you go for an MRI of your neck because a spinal pain that reduces or increase with coughing or sneezing could be cause by a herniated or bulging disc. And if it is the case, non-surgical spinal decompression therapy would be my treatment recommendation. READ MORE
Can a chiropractor help to align my back?
It depends on the cause of the misalignment: it may be caused my a misaligned vertebra or pelvis. In that case chiropractic can help. But it can be from other causes such as compression fracture of a vertebra because of osteoporosis. In that case, there is nothing chiropractic can do to help realign the spine. READ MORE
My back has become very hunched. Should I see a chiropractor?
You must take x-rays first to make sure you do not suffer from severe osteoporosis which would be a contraindication to spinal manipulation. READ MORE
What is myofascial pain syndrome? How is it treated?
The cause and mechanism of action of myofascial pain syndrome (MPS) is still poorly understood. Current prevailing consensus among practitioners is that MPS is characterized by the presence of regionally distributed muscular pain associated with the manifestation of palpable regions of hypersensitivity known as a Trigger Point. Many chiropractors treat this condition with a technique called Nimmo or Trigger point therapy. READ MORE

Can a chiropractor help in treating foot pain?
First, we would need to get an x-ray so we can determine if you have an heel spur. If you do, a shockwave therapy would be recommended. You may suffer from a plantar fascitis: in this case I would recommend a laser therapy. Heel pain can also be cause by a pinched nerve in your low back. An history and exam would tell us if it is a possibility. If it was the case, an x-ray or MRI of your low back would be necessary to diagnose your condition. READ MORE
My mother suffered Bell's Palsy and is now recovering. Can a chiropractor help at this stage?
The cause of Bell's palsy is unknown. However, we know that it results from a dysfunction of cranial nerve VII (the facial nerve). Since there exists a neurological connexion between the facial nerve and the cervical plexus, it is often the case that a spinal manipulation of the cervical spine will help resolve Bell's Palsy faster. It has been my clinical experience with hundreds of patients suffering from this condition. READ MORE
What is the best way to help a frozen shoulder heal faster?
A frozen shoulder or capsulitis is usually a reduced range of motion and pain of the affected shoulder which is caused by another condition such as a bursitis or tendinitis, calcified or not. Before doing any exercices or stretches, I would suggest you consult to find out the cause of your problem, so you don't damage your shoulder even more. READ MORE
My son suffers from ADHD. Should I bring him to a chiropractor?
There are numerous case studies to support the use of chiropractic care in the management of ADHD symptoms. One such case study published in the Journal of Clinical Chiropractic Peadiatrics5 reviewed the Chiropractic management of a six-year-old child with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. The treatment plan included chiropractic adjustments, craniosacral therapy, movement exercises and nutritional supplements. After six weeks the results were reviewed. “At 6 weeks, improved focus and more compliance with directives was noted. The patient retained the correction of the vertebral subluxation complex post adjustment after the first 4-5 adjustments. Subjective input from teachers and bus drivers noted marked improvement in behaviour. Through this course of treatment, the child was able to discontinue use of the medication previously prescribed to control the symptoms of ADHD.” [5] Chiropractic management of six-year-old child with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) [case report] Wittman R, Vallone SA, Williams K J Clin Chiropr Pediatr. 2009 Jun;10(1):612-620 READ MORE
