Should acupuncture needles hurt?
There is not should or should not, some points will hurt based on the nature of their location, others will not based on their location. It will also be dependent on the practitioners needling style and skill. The needles will not generally be as painful as a hypodermic shot or blood draw, but can feel heavy. You can also sometimes feel a shooting sensation down the channel, or feel a muscle jump. There are a variety of sensations that occur with needling in acupuncture, be sure to keep communication open with your practitioner because though there are a lot of sensations, none should actually be "painful" to a severe degree. How much weight can you lose with acupuncture?
You need more than acupuncture to lose weight, it is not a magic bullet that melts fat away. You need to be aware of your body's needs for nutrition, your dietary habits and your physical activity to moderate your weight. This in line with genetic factors determines your ability to safely maintain, lose or gain weight. Acupuncture helps the body regulate it's metabolism, helps the digestive functions work smoothly and helps the organs do their job properly, but it will not make you lose weight on its own. Find a licensed acupuncturist who works with patients that want to lose weight and talk with them directly. You will also want to find a good nutritionist and a safe and healthy workout plan. Good luck. READ MORE

What is acupuncture and how does it help?
This is a very big question but I will try to keep my answer simple. Acupuncture is a form of treatment forr a multitude of health issues ranging from simple pains, colds, flu all the way up to helping recovery from stroke, infertility and other major issues. It comes from an Eastern view on health and nature and has been around since early man. It helps by regulating the body's own internal healing mechanisms and communication between the body's functional systems. By helping the body regulate itself and function more efficiently the body then starts to heal itself as nature intends and function more properly this relieving ailments and sicknesses. It takes a 4 year medical training to learn the basics and become a competent practitioner, then a lifetime to perfect. It helps people stay healthy in not only a physical way but an emotional, psychological and spiritual sense too. READ MORE
Is acupuncture a placebo?
The strongest argument we have against the placebo only theory is the fact that acupuncture works on animals. It is used to treat horses, cats, dogs, elephants, squirrels and other animals. If it was only a placebo it would not help animals because they don't believe, they just get better with treatments. READ MORE
