Will my first physical therapy appointment hurt? (right hip)
At your first appointment, you can expect a detail assessment asking you questions about your pain, how long have you had it, what makes it better/worse, and what you typically like to do with activities. Answer the questions as best as you can, but if not no worries! We also look at your muscles and joint to fill in the gaps. And if you think of the answer later, that’s great! Body awareness is usually a big goal for us. You may experience some soreness depending on your therapist’s treatment plan for that day, but it usually doesn’t last more than 1-2 days, is t debilitating, and you typically begin to feel better once it subsides. Also, just wear clothing that allows you to move and isn’t restrictive. I hope you have a positive experience! If you have any questions don’t hesitate to tell your therapist. All the best! READ MORE

A recumbent bike can be very helpful with hip osteoarthritis. Physical therapy can also be a highly effective conservative approach. Sometimes osteoarthritis is present, but may not necessarily be the primary source of pain in a person. Muscles move moves and support your skeleton. If you strengthen your muscles you can decrease the force/load on your joints. If osteoarthritis is truly the primary cause of your pain then the gold standard is a replacement. However keep in mind physical therapy before a replacement (pre-hab) had been shown to improve post operative conditions as your muscles are stronger. If you do decide to get surgery also remember that no two knees are the same and I HIGHLY recommend against getting both at the same time. All the best READ MORE
Can you please suggest some neck exercises that can be done while sitting and working?
First check your posture and desk set up. Try to set up an ergonomic working space if possible. Take breaks. Some generic exercises would be an upper trap stretch (tilt your head to the side and provide a gentle pull with the same side hand, don’t let your other shoulder creep up towards your ear) take a deep breath and exhale. Hold for 30seconds repeat 3x and perform on the other side. Try not to slouch and have support for your lumbar spine. All the best! Don’t stress! READ MORE
