A glass pricked my foot and even after a month the spot hurts. What should I do?
I recommend you follow up with a podiatrist. Glass doesn’t normally show up on X-ray unless it has lead in it. But in any case, you may need an X-ray of your foot and for the doctor to numb your foot for a thorough evaluation. Even a tiny sliver of glass left in the foot can be painful. If you have any medical conditions such as diabetes or poor circulation, I recommend seeing a podiatrist as soon as possible. Dr. Barbara Norvell READ MORE
Why are my feet so crooked?
Bunions and hammertoes can be hereditary. To prevent your feet from getting worse stretching exercises help as well as wearing support shoes. Avoid wearing high heel shoes over 2-3 inches or unsupportive shoes such as flip flops, especially as an all day shoe. READ MORE
Can I run with flat feet?
You can absolutely run with flat feet. If you are having pain with running, you may want to consider custom orthotics to help support your arch. Dr. Barbara Norvell READ MORE
My mother is diabetic and has thick nail growth in her feet. How can we cut them while avoiding injury?
Cutting a diabetic patient’s toenails can be very dangerous. Risk factors such as poor circulation, decreased sensation, and high risk of infection make cutting diabetic nails a job that should be done by a medical professional. I would advise you to have your mom see a podiatrist for treatment. This is a service covered by most insurances every 2-3 months. Dr. Barbara Norvell READ MORE
