After receiving my associates in biology, I attended the Tri-State College of Acupuncture in Manhattan and earned my Masters of Science in Acupuncture. There I learned the unique style of Acupuncture Physical Medicine (aka trigger point dry needling). Developed by our headmaster Mark Seem and based on Janet Travell's books on trigger points, this technique releases "knots" in muscles to alleviate musculoskeletal pain and even internal visceral symptoms (such as chest pain or digestive disorders) without the harmful injections of steroids or numbing agents. I was also well versed in many other tricks that go with the trade such as moxabustion, electro-acupuncture, cupping and gua sha. Currently, I am studying Classical Chinese Medicine under the mentorship of Timothy Aitken, a master practitioner and specialist in pediatric acupuncture. Acupuncture is the insertion of fine needles into strategic points on the body to achieve overall wellness. This technique developed over 3,000 years ago and takes a holistic approach to healing. All the symptoms that you're feeling come down to one root diagnosis: an imbalance between internal organs, and/or pathology that has made it's way into your body. Acupuncture works to correct these imbalances and pathologies by supporting your body's natural ability to heal itself. You and I are a team. That means that you have as big a role in your healing as I do. You have the ultimate control over your body and it is up to you to exercise it. Your health is your responsibility, and your healthcare team is here to support you.

My Blog
On my website, you'll find a blog that I use to provide a basic education in the theories of acupuncture. I feel that the more one understands about acupuncture and how it works, the better connection they have to their treatments and the better their response. I also like to use that space to...
Can acupuncture help with weight loss?
Absolutely. Though I still work with suggesting diet and lifestyle changes, acupuncture can help remove blockages that may be preventing you from seeing and feeling results. READ MORE
Can acupuncture help in relieving my mother's depression?
Yes, acupuncture is very successful in treating depression. However, she should not fear any medications. They can be extremely helpful and there is usually little risk. Acupuncture can also work with the medications and eventually help her to wean off of them if they prove necessary. READ MORE
Can acupuncture help with nausea?
Yes. There is also acupressure she can do at home to help with the symptoms. Seeing an acupuncturist, however, will be more effective. READ MORE
Does acupuncture help in treating skin disorders?
Yes, acupuncture can help. We actually understand skin conditions to be an internal imbalance that manifests symptomatically on the skin. This is likely why the cream did not help her; it was only treating the symptoms, not the cause. READ MORE
Can acupuncture treat chronic fatigue syndrome?
Acupuncture can definitely help alleviate all of the symptoms of chronic fatigue syndrome. We may also suggest some lifestyle changes which will help support the treatments. READ MORE
Can acupuncture help with ulcer pain?
Yes. Acupuncture can help alleviate the pain, help the ulcer to heal, and help prevent new ones from forming. However, I ask that you continue to consult with your doctor to image the progress of it's healing. As for the medications, please don't fear them. They can be extremely helpful and the acupuncture can help wean you off of them and/or address any possible side effects from them. READ MORE
Lately I've been experiencing a lot of fatigue. Can acupuncture help?
Yes. Acupuncture can help improve your energy levels and improve your sleep (if that is an issue). I may also recommend moxibustion homework, and dietary or lifestyle changes to supplement the treatments. READ MORE
How effective are acupressure slippers?
Honestly, I think they're a nice foot massage. There is only one acupuncture point on the bottom of the foot so these slippers likely activate foot reflexology points which is a different medicine. Additionally, they are not massaging specific points that will help you heal in any way. Every point we use is selected for a reason. To activate all of them simultaneously only confuses the body and can do more harm than good. Think of it like taking every over the counter medication at once to treat a headache. The aspirin may help, but the tums, NyQuil, and laxative certainly won't. READ MORE
Is acupuncture helpful in treating anemia?
Yes. The acupuncture can help and I would likely make some dietary and lifestyle changes, and have him apply moxibustion for homework. READ MORE
How is arthritis treated with acupuncture?
Yes. Studies have shown that acupuncture is actually better at treating pain than most pain medications and this is because we don't just treat the symptom of pain, we treat the cause. In Chinese Medicine, arthritis actually has 4 different possible diagnoses. Western medicine only has one: inflammation. The acupuncture will treat why the inflammation is occurring, not just the pain you feel from it. READ MORE
Can insomnia be treated with acupuncture?
Acupuncture can definitely help, but you may not feel immediate results. There are over-the-counter supplements, essential oils, and other non-pharmaceutical interventions that can be used while the acupuncture works. READ MORE
Does acupuncture help in treating depression?
Acupuncture can definitely help, but I wouldn't suggest taking her off any medications without first consulting her doctor. As the acupuncture works, and she starts to feel improvement, we can work with her doctor to slowly wean her off the antidepressant. READ MORE

Yes. Acupuncture can help increase fertility, support the pregnancy, and even help with inducing labor and the birthing process. READ MORE
Why do I have so much gas and bloating?
In Chinese Medicine, it's difficult to provide a diagnosis with only the symptoms. There are several reasons why people feel certain symptoms and the symptoms themselves can be misleading. To fully and accurately explain why you feel this bloating, I would need to take a full history, feel your pulse, and look at your tongue. READ MORE
Can acupuncture help in treating lower back pain?
Absolutely. Acupuncture can help with any muscle pain from the repetitive strain of your work, but can also help lower and better manage your stress levels. READ MORE
Is it safe for me to continue my acupuncture during pregnancy?
It is absolutely safe to continue with acupuncture during pregnancy so long as your acupuncturist is made aware that you are pregnant. There are certain points we avoid as they can induce labor, turn the baby, etc. READ MORE
My wife has no drive for sex. Will acupuncture be able to help at all?
It can definitely help. There are many factors involved with sexual drive and it may even be helpful for you both to see the acupuncturist and a therapist to work through whatever is blocking your intimacy. READ MORE
Can acupuncture help me in managing stress?
Absolutely. Acupuncture is most well known for it's treatment of stress and anxiety. The treatments can help with the symptoms you feel and there are exercises and meditations we can work with to help prevent you from feeling stressed or overwhelmed to begin with. READ MORE
Can acupuncture improve sleep?
Acupuncture helps with sleep on many different levels; due to stress, chemical imbalances, etc. The reason why you're having trouble sleeping (in Chinese medical terms) is due to either an imbalance between the yin and yang energy within your body, or imbalances between the internal organs that regulate sleep. Your symptoms, the look of your tongue, and the feel of your pulse will tell us what those imbalances are and then we work to correct them, thus alleviating the insomnia. READ MORE
Is acupuncture a long-term treatment?
The length of time needed for acupuncture is dependent upon the condition and the patient's compliance with treatment. Typically, the longer a condition has been in existence, the longer it takes to resolve. The resolution of a condition, however, does not mean one must stop acupuncture. I find several patients continue to work with other conditions or use acupuncture prophylactically (to prevent future conditions, injuries, etc.). READ MORE
