  • Can more than one condition be treated in an acupuncture session?

It may. If the treatment focus is on underlining imbalance in your body, it can have positive effect on many issues at once. However some times more "surface issue" like acute pain may be primary focus of treatment and in those cases only one issue will be focused on before moving to another. READ MORE

  • When is acupuncture not recommended?

There are some issues when acupuncture is not recommended. But, it is better said when specific points are not recommended. Example, we would not use points on a pregnant mom that can cause contractions if she is to early in pregnacy. If person is depleted from injury, sickness,s or age to some extream, it is important not to over drain some points. So it is not a no acupuncture policy, it is more a no points on specific cases policy. READ MORE

  • How are acupuncture and chiropractic care similar?

    No READ MORE

  • How long do the benefits of an acupuncture session last for?

Unfortunately that is hard to answer honestly. Some times you can be a one and done and feel better. Other times it could take many treatments to get rid of problem, then monthly visits to keep problem away. Every body is unique in response. READ MORE

  • What should you not do before acupuncture?

Eat most important. Should not do acu on someone that hasn't not eaten yet that day. And don't come in dirty of course. READ MORE

  • Is it ok to get a massage after acupuncture?

Not if you are in weak condition. And if your treatment was lets say on bladder meridian running down back, I would not go for message on the back, it could just be over kill, wait a day you will get more out of both treatments. READ MORE

  • Does acupuncture hurt the next day?

It can be sore, tender, sensitive. Hurts is a relative word, if it is very painful no that is not the norm. READ MORE

  • Does acupuncture help with high blood pressure?

It can. As medieval as it may sound however, a small prick to draw few drops of blood from specific points can be a useful treatment in blood pressure cases. READ MORE

  • Can acupunture decrease my body weight?

Acupuncture can help with weight in couple of ways: 1) it can reduce cravings, normally with some ear points just as used in smoking cravings; 2) if something is unbalanced in how your body processes food, body points can help that if it's the case. However, you can eat through whatever treatment is used, so if an over-eating diet continues, unfortunately, the treatments can only do so much. READ MORE

  • Can I go to an acupuncturist to get rid of my abdominal pain?

Yes, acupuncture does very well with stomach issues. It is actually one of the better issues Chinese med helps with. However, if it is Crohn's disease, I have seen it alleviate some symptoms, but unfortunately, it is not a cure and more a band aid when pains surface. READ MORE

  • Does having acupuncture hurt?

Stress yes, headaches a high % gets fixed. Does it hurt? Truthfully, some points do. I, personally, try to fix problem fast so I go more aggressive with needles. However, it should not scare you, if a point does hurt on insertion, it is only as bad as a quick prick, not any lingering pain. READ MORE

  • Will I have to get acupuncture throughout my life?

Most truthful answer to that is many times the treatments needed will last according to how long you had pain. So, if it is an issue you have had for 20yrs, then most likely yes, you would need to get treatment as a maintenance, something like taking a pain pill, it may not be needed every week once pain goes away, but it most likely will come back in a reduced state. If it is a fairly new pain, less treatment may get rid of it all together. READ MORE

  • Can acupuncture help in treating GERD?

Quickest answer is yes. Stomach issues are one of the most successful things I've personally seen acupuncture help. Skin issues would be one of the more difficult ones. READ MORE

  • Does acupuncture help in treating skin disorders?

Now this is just my personal experience, skin issues is one of the hardest things to treat. Now, if from Chinese med side of evaluation, we could find what is causing the issue lets say because of digestion, then, yes, you would have better shot than lets say a genetic cause. Needles are good for most issues, but with skin you may need needles and herbs. I personally do not do herbs, so, if you call an acupuncturist with herbal experience, I would think you may have a higher % chance to help your sister. READ MORE

  • How is arthritis treated with acupuncture?

Acupuncture, in short, would try to reduce inflammation and boost your system to fight the pain. The nerve endings the needles manipulate tell your brain to not feel the pain as bad. READ MORE

I do not know the slippers. I would say if they are cheap, give it a shot. However, no way will it compare to going to an acupuncture clinic and getting an experienced evaluation. READ MORE

You are in the right ball park. Her issue may very well be stress related also. Acupuncture, in short, attempts to balance unbalanced body systems. So, after a proper evaluation, we could see what is off balance. Once identified and treated, boom, you have a good chance of helping your problem. READ MORE

  • Can acupuncture treat my digestive disorders?
