How to Stop Fibroid Bleeding

Why and When Do You Need a Pap Test?

Is there a special diet I should give my daughter while she's on her period?
Some females become anemic after they begin having periods. A diet high in iron and vitamin C will help to prevent anemia. The vitamin C helps the body to absorb the iron better. The dietary suggestions given by other answerers are very good. If she is a vegetarian/vegan, green leafy vegetables (spinach, kale, greens), broccoli, and beets have iron in them. These vegetables will help to replace any iron lost in the menstrual blood. If she eats meat, red meat like goat, lamb, pork or beef (if she is allowed these last two) are excellent sources of iron, especially the livers, as well as chicken (and other bird) liver. If she does eat beef, veal (milk-fed calf meat) is not a good source of iron. Oranges, grapefruit, lemons, limes, and kumquats are excellent sources of vitamin C. Most other fruits and some vegetables are good sources of vitamin C, even white potatoes. It is best if she eats these foods all the time, but if not, then for the days she is having her period, at least. Incidentally, these foods are healthy for everyone in the family, all the time. (Unless there’s a health issue, for example, liver would be bad for someone with high cholesterol.) READ MORE
