Get to know Dentist Dr. Alfonso Piñeyro, DDS, who serves the Seattle, Washington area at his private practice, Clear Choice Dental Implant Centers. Dr. Piñeyro received his degree in dental training at the Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara. He then continued his studies by completing a two-year Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency at the University of Rochester Eastman Dental Center. Dr. Piñeyro completed an additional three years of education and received his specialty certificate in prosthodontics from the University of Rochester Eastman Dental Center in 2006. After his certification, Dr. Piñeyro became an affiliate instructor in the Department of Restorative Dentistry at the University of Washington. In addition, he has been a guest lecturer at the University of Rochester Eastman Dental Center, Loma Linda University, Oregon Health And Science University. His lectures have centered upon topics related to clinical prosthodontics and implant dentistry. Dr. Piñeyro has been involved in dental research focusing on dental implants and has authored several publications in textbooks and peer reviewed dental journals, such as the Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, International Journal of Oral Maxillofacial Implants, Journal of Esthetic and Restorative Dentistry, and Dentistry Today. His research in prosthodontics has been in conjunction with the University of Washington and he has established himself as an expert in the field. A prosthodontist, also known as an implant dentist, specializes in treating and handling dental and facial problems that involve restoring missing tooth and jaw structures. A prosthodontist is highly trained in cosmetics, dental implants, crowns, bridges, and dentures. Prosthodontists are the recognized experts when anything needs to be replaced in a patient’s mouth. This can range from a single tooth, multiple teeth, or all teeth and gums in the mouth. While many other dentists can do some of these treatments, prosthodontists are the specialists dedicated to this type of care. With memberships in the American College of Prosthodontists, the American Dental Association, the American Prosthodontic Society, and the Washington State Society of Prosthodontists, Dr. Pineyro is able to stay current in his field. In his spare time, Dr. Piñeyro enjoys playing soccer and traveling with his wife and daughters. He is fluent in English, Spanish, and Italian.
