Jose Dutra, MD, received his medical degree in 1979 from the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro in Brazil. He then continued his medical training in different parts of the world, attending the McGaw Medical Center in Chicago and Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago for his residency; followed by his fellowship at the Institute of Gustar Roussy in Villejuif Cedex, France. His medical career has seen numerous accomplishments including the publication of his numerous research and studies about otolaryngology; being named by Vitals.com as 'Compassionate Doctor' in 2009 to 2010, 'Patients Choice Award' in 2010, 'On-Time Physician Award' in 2009; and membership in professional societies such as the American Head and Neck Society, American Academy of Osteopathy, and The Endocrine Society. Dr. Dutra attributes his success to quality care to patients, extreme dedication to thyroid and parathyroid medicine, and commitment to make a difference in the field. Today, he practices otolaryngology at the Northwestern Medical Faculty Foundation in Chicago; he also works as Director of the Thyroid Division, Department of Otolaryngology at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago, Illinois.
