Get to know Ophthalmologist Dr. Dalia S. Nagel, who serves patients in New York, New York.

Dr. Nagel is a comprehensive ophthalmologist with special interests in cataract and refractive surgery, glaucoma, medical retina, and uveitis. She sees patients at Eastside Eye Associates in New York, New York.

Founded in 1975 by Dr. Julius Shulman, Eastside Eye Associates has grown into a multi-specialty ophthalmology practice with specialists in premium lens cataract surgery, laser vision correction, glaucoma, retinal diseases, ophthalmic plastic surgery, contact lenses, general eye care, and eyeglass dispensing. Dr. Nagel joined the staff in 2008 and has helped to expand the practice’s services and hours of operation, both Uptown at the main office and Downtown at the satellite office in Tribeca.

Recognized as a highly skilled LASIK surgeon, Dr. Nagel uses state-of-the-art equipment, including the Intralase blade-free laser, the VISX S4 excimer laser with advanced eye-tracking capabilities, and CustomVue wavefront technology with Iris registration. She takes great pride in offering the most technologically advanced developments in ophthalmology, along with individualized and personal attention.

In addition to being a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the doctor is board-certified in ophthalmology by the American Board of Ophthalmology, which is an independent, non-profit organization responsible for certifying ophthalmologists in the United States of America. 

On the subject of her educational background, Dr. Nagel graduated from Barnard College, Columbia University, summa cum laude, and received her medical degree from Harvard Medical School in 2004. After completing her training in ophthalmology at The Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City, she was appointed Clinical Instructor, where she is active in teaching residents and students.

Throughout her many years of experience in the field, she has authored numerous scientific publications and has presented her work at national meetings. As a recipient of the Doris Duke Clinical Research Fellowship, her publication in glaucoma won the prestigious Lewis Rudin Glaucoma Award presented by the New York Academy of Medicine.

Ophthalmology is a branch of medicine and surgery, which deals with the diagnosis and treatment of eye disorders. Ophthalmologists are experts in the diseases, functions, and anatomy of the eye.
