  • Do braces scratch your gums?

Are you getting brackets and wires, traditional braces, or aligners? Occasionally braces scratch inside the cheeks. Rare aligners can scratch the gums. READ MORE

  • White tongue

It would be best to see a dentist or oral surgeon. Maybe you have been hitting the edge of your tongue. It could potentially be something more concerning. READ MORE

  • How long does the roof of your mouth take to heal after a gum graft?

Ask the surgeon if an appliance can be made to cover the roof of your mouth! As a referring dentist, my periodontist was very good to me. When I had a graft, he had a cover made for me. He told me that I'd want to wear it for. READ MORE

  • Can Invisalign cause health problems?

I am personally wearing Invisalign. I have never heard of any health issues or allergies caused by them. Maintaining mouth and gum health is important. READ MORE

  • Do braces hurt?

Most of the time your mouth should be comfortable. When the braces are adjusted or aligners are changed, there can be a little discomfort for a short time. READ MORE

  • Can you wear dentures 24/7?

If you had teeth extracted when the dentures were placed, just taking them out to rinse them for the first week only is advised. After initial healing from any extractions, dentures are best left out while sleeping. The gums need a chance to "breathe". If you never removed your shoes, think about how your toes might get, or don't. For the 1st week after extractions, if the dentures are left out, the gums might swell overnight. Then the dentures would not go back in in the morning. READ MORE

  • How soon after gum graft can I exercise?

What sort of exercise? How hard will you work out? How are you feeling? I'd suggest trying a light workout and seeing how it goes. Listen to your body. READ MORE

  • Should you keep brushing bleeding gums?

Bleeding gums are generally caused by infection. Without brushing (with a soft brush) and flossing, the infection will get worse. As there may be tartar on your teeth and roots, you should have s professional dental cleaning as well. READ MORE

  • Will my tongue get used to Invisalign?

You should adapt. You'll know the aligners are in, but you'll manage. Why do I think so? I'm wearing aligners. READ MORE

  • How long do stitches stay in after dental implant surgery?

Many stitches now dissolve on their own. Stitches should remain in place roughly 7 to 14 days after surgery, depending on the extent of surgery, if grafting material was placed, and the health of your gums. Ask your surgeon. If no appointment was made to remove the stitches, they are probably going to dissolve on their own at the right time. READ MORE

  • How soon can you eat after tooth gap bonding?

Unless your dentist gave you different information, immediately. Bonding is completely cured by the light. You may want to avoid biting on the bonded teeth, however. Cut up apples, avoid corn on the cob and spareribs to preserve your bonding for a long time. READ MORE

  • Do fillings in molars hurt?

Fillings in any teeth should not hurt. If you have discomfort, call the dentist. If the filling hits too hard when you bite, it would become uncomfortable. That is an easy fix. READ MORE

  • Is it normal for the bone graft to be added 4 months after dental extraction?

A bone graft can be added at any time. When the extraction is done is an ideal time. If an implant is going to be placed, grafting is often placed after the extraction. READ MORE

  • Can I get my teeth straightened while pregnant?

There is some thought that teeth may move more easily during pregnancy. Whether you personally can have your teeth straightened now depends. Are your gums healthy? What trimester are you in? Typically, X-rays are needed before any type of orthodontia can be performed. Did you have current x-rays before becoming pregnant? Speak with your OB, dentist, and orthodontist. READ MORE

  • How long do molar implants last?

When all goes as planned, molar implants CAN last for life. Implants need to be cleaned, daily at home, and professionally as your dentist recommends. Implants can be damaged by excessive biting force. As teeth can shift and implants do not, your dentist should check the bite annually. Smoking can decrease the success rate of implants. READ MORE

  • Does placing crowns on implants hurt?

Placing a crown on an implant should not hurt. If there is any pressure on the gum as the abutment and crown are seated, speak to your dentist. Numbing gel is almost always enough for those few cases where there is pressure. READ MORE

  • Will dry socket go away on its own?

It would eventually heal after an extended extremely painful healing period. The surgeon can place some medication that should provide almost immediate relief. READ MORE

  • Is bleeding after deep cleaning normal?

What were your hygienist's instructions? Warm salt rinses can be helpful. Daily flossing, even though it may cause bleeding in the short term, will help your gums heal. Use a very soft toothbrush for now, never any firmer than soft bristles. READ MORE

  • Dry socket?

It is normal for your tongue to touch the area. That should not necessarily cause a dry socket. Keep rinsing the area. READ MORE

  • How strong are Emax veneers?

E.max veneers are quite strong and look very good. For someone who may grind their teeth, a bite guard is still often recommended. Veneers should be used like jewels, not tools! READ MORE
