Licensed to practice medicine in Maryland and Pennsylvania, Dr. Gurgenashvili is a renowned neurologist who serves as the Medical Director of Neurology at The Parkway Neuroscience & Spine Institute, which she joined back in 2011. She sees patients at the offices in Frederick and Hagerstown, Maryland and Chambersburg, Pennsylvania.
The mission of Parkway Neuroscience and Spine Institute is to provide a Center of Excellence for the diagnosis, management, and treatment of disorders of the brain, spine, and peripheral nervous systems for the communities in the tri-state region.
Specializing in general neurology services with additional expertise in the field of neuromuscular medicine and epilepsy, Dr. Gurgenashvili tends to patients with a wide variety of neurological problems such as epilepsy, neuromuscular disorders, headaches, sleep disorders, cerebrovascular disorders, multiple sclerosis, and pain.
An associate member of the American Academy of Neurology, the doctor is board-certified in neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, which is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to promoting high-quality patient care for the public through the initial and continuing certification of psychiatrists and neurologists. She is also an active member of the American Clinical Neurophysiology Society, the American Epilepsy Society, and the American Association of Neuromuscular and Electrodiagnostic Medicine.
A graduate of AIETI Medical School, Dr. Gurgenashvili completed her internal medicine training at Hahnemann University Hospital in Philadelphia and her neurology training at Drexel University College of Medicine. She was a member of the parkway family until 2016 when she left the practice temporarily to pursue a fellowship in neurophysiology at Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, where she has stayed as a part-time faculty member.
