Get to know Gastroenterologist Dr. Ayub Hussain, who serves patients in Texas.

Dr. Hussain is a highly trained gastroenterologist seeing patients at Northside Gastroenterology Associates, P.A. He is one of a select few in the area to have advanced training in endoscopic retrograde cholangio pancreatography, and endoscopic suturing and capsule endoscopy certification.

Northside Gastroenterology Associates, P.A. is a patient-focused gastroenterology practice with two locations in Houston and Cypress, Texas. The team treats all kinds of gastroenterology issues, including irritable bowel syndrome, hemorrhoids, acid reflux, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), and more using the most advanced medical technology for endoscopy, colon cancer screening, colonoscopy, and more. The doctor’s clinical interests include: anal rectal/colon cancer, anemia, Crohn’s disease, eating disorders, endoscopy, ERCP – diagnostic and therapy, flexible sigmoidoscopy, gallstones, and GI disease.

Educated in Pakistan, Dr. Hussain graduated with his medical degree from Allama Iqbal Medical College in 1986. He then went on to perform his internship and residency at Highland Hospital in Rochester, New York in 1993 and 1996, respectively. This was followed by three fellowships in gastroenterology at the University of Louisville in 1999, the University of Rochester in 2000, and Allegheny General Hospital in 2001.

Subsequent to his education, he attained board certification in internal medicine and gastroenterology through the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Working hard to maintain a cutting edge knowledge of his field, Dr. Hussain is a Fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology (FACG) and a Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP).

Additionally, he is a member of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, the American Medical Association, and the Texas Medical Association.

Gastroenterology is the branch of medicine focused on the digestive system and its disorders. A gastroenterologist is a physician who has extensive training in the diagnosis and treatment of disorders related to the esophagus, stomach, small intestines, colon, liver, pancreas, and biliary system.
