Laurie Brooks, BA, BSC, MD, CCFP, has a private practice in Alberta, Canada. Dr. Brooks is as passionate about Eastern medicine as she is Western; she possesses certification in family medicine and acupuncture, her acupuncture training being completed at "Golden Road to Golden Needles" course at the University of Orthopedics and Acupuncture in Beijing. She is a former Qigong faciliator; Qigong is the art of healing and energy medicine from China. Through breathing, meditation and certain movements, one's life energy (qi) is cleansed; leading to less health problems in the future. Dr. Brooks has used this tool and regular family medicine practice on three separate mission trips to Tibet and China. She possesses herbal knowledge as well thanks to a 2 year post-diagnostic course in herbal medicine. Dr. Brooks has also also been published with the Alberta Heritage Research Foundation for her advances in medical research. It is most important to her that people be open-minded about all forms of medicine; this way of thinking has helped shaped her success.
