Leona Weston Ayers, MD, is an expert in the pathology and microbiology fields. She works at the Ohio State University Medical Center at the James Cancer Hospital. Designated by the National Cancer Institute, this facility is the only free-standing cancer hospital in the Midwest and one of 40 comprehensive cancer hospitals in the nation. A noted author and speaker, Dr. Ayers has also given presentations on Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma in Africa at the Sub-Saharan Africa Lymphoma Consortium, as well as International Conferences on Malignancies in AIDS (an annual conference). She also conducts research for the Human Tissue Resource Network, as befits one of the main duties of a pathologist. When not practicing medicine, Dr. Ayers is a Professor as well at Ohio State University, teaching pathology.
