A board-certified and fellowship-trained cardiologist, Dr. Polena serves as the Director of the Vein Center at the Huntington Heart Center. 

The Huntington Heart Center is a full service cardiovascular facility performing services in the Huntington, New York area. We have been an important part of the Huntington community for over 30 years. Their physicians and ancillary staff render the highest quality of healthcare to the many patients they service. A native of Albania, Dr. Polena earned his medical degree at the University of Tirana School of Medicine. After relocating to the United States, he completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at the Flushing Hospital Medical Center, where he was Chief Resident. Later, he completed two fellowships in cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology at the Lenox Hill Hospital.

Recognized as a Diplomate of the American Board of Venous and Lymphatic Diseases, the doctor is board-certified in cardiovascular disease and internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Among his other roles, he is an attending physician at the North Shore University Hospital at Manhasset, Southside Hospital and St. Francis Hospital.

Cardiology is a branch of medicine that deals with the disorders of the heart, as well as some parts of the circulatory system. The field includes medical diagnosis and treatment of congenital heart defects, coronary artery disease, heart failure, valvular heart disease, and electrophysiology.
