Dr. Overley is an experienced orthopaedic surgeon providing care at UAMS Health Orthopaedic Clinic — Colonel Glenn in Little Rock, Arkansas & UAMS Baptist Health Orthopaedic Clinic-Conway. He provides surgical and nonsurgical treatment for a wide variety of spinal conditions, including cervical, thoracic, and lumbar problems, as well as spine tumors and trauma.
Alongside his clinical role, he serves as an Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery within the Departments of Orthopaedic Surgery and Neurosurgery at the College of Medicine at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences.
In regards to his educational background, Dr. Overley graduated summa cum laude in Honors Studies with a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science. He then went on to graduate with highest honors from the University of Texas Health Science Center – San Antonio. As for his training, he completed his residency in orthopaedic surgery at The Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, New York, where he was elected chief resident. This was followed by a fellowship in spine surgery at the Cleveland Clinic.
The doctor’s mentorship from both neurosurgeons and orthopaedic surgeons has given him unique experience in treating adult scoliosis, spinal deformities, and other complex spinal conditions, as well as performing minimally invasive spine surgery.
As a testament to his success, he is board-certified in orthopaedic surgery through the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, which is an organization with the goal of establishing educational and professional standards for orthopaedic residents and surgeons, as well as evaluating the qualifications and competence of orthopaedic surgeons.
Some of Dr. Overley’s various honors include being elected an American Orthopaedic Association Emerging Leader in 2017 and receiving a Best Paper Award from the Global Spine Journal for his 2017 manuscript “Return to Play in Contact Athletes Following Anterior Cervical Discectomy and Fusion: a Meta-Analysis.”
