Peter Nieman, MD, FRCP(c), FAAP, has a private practice in Calgary, Canada. He has a special interest in children's obesity and raising healthy children, being a parent himself. A native of South Africa, he moved to Calgary to complete his residency and has been in practice since 1987. Also an avid marathon runner, having run is 86th marathon as of 2012, Dr. Nieman's passion for helping obese children in the community is shown at the Calgary Pediatric Weight Clinic in downtown Calgary. A Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Calgary, he is currently President of the Canadian Pediatric Society's Section of Community Pediatricians, as well as President of Alberta's Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Dr. Nieman has also given TV and radio interviews on common topics pertaining to children and parenting.
