What is gingivitis and its risk factors?
Gingivitis is a mild inflammation of the gums. Brushing and flossing correctly twice a day is sufficient to control the condition. Early signs are bleeding of the gums when you brush your teeth. READ MORE

Did my dental x-rays harm my baby? (first trimester)
Normally doctors recommend no x-rays until after the 2nd trimester however if the normal precautions were taken, a lead apron, there should be no repercussions for the baby. There is nothing to be done at this time although you should check with your physician. There are no additional x-ray protection protocols for pregnancy after the 2nd trimester. READ MORE
Wisdom teeth removal
1. Some patients want to be put to sleep for this type or any extraction. Most General Dentists are not qualified or don't have the equipment to put you to sleep. 2. If you are OK with just a local anesthetic, it depends on the General Dentist's comfort in his ability to do the extraction. If he does not feel comfortable, he will refer his/her patient to an oral surgeon for the extraction. READ MORE
Adult tooth is loose. What should I do?
You need to see your dentist so an x-ray can be taken to assess any permanent damage i.e is the tooth broken, is the bone broken. If neither is the case and you do not have periodontal disease (you don't mention your age) the tooth may be splinted to the adjacent teeth and the tooth will tighten up on its own in 4-6 weeks. Very swollen and red gums after routine dental cleaning
Who did the dental cleaning? When was the last time your teeth were cleaned? Was anything done differently this time? It is possible that the operator used latex gloves or a latex prophy cup and that you have developed an allergy to latex. Go back to whomever cleaned your teeth and find out what transpired differently. READ MORE
