Dr. Couser received his undergraduate degree in Biochemistry at the University of Virginia. He completed his medical education and internship in Internal Medicine at the Medical College of Virginia/VCU School of Medicine. He completed his residency in Ophthalmology at Howard University Hospital, serving as co-chief resident in his final year. He then completed a fellowship in Pediatric Ophthalmology & Adult Strabismus at Emory University in Atlanta and is now working as an attending at the Stony Point Richmond Eye & Ear Surgical Specialty Center, previously the Richmond Eye & Ear Hospital and now one of the busiest multi-specialty outpatient surgery centers in Virginia. Dr. Couser also teaches Pediatric & Family Medicine residents, is a part of the Craniofacial Team at the Medical College of Virginia/VCU School of Medicine, has won numerous awards for research in his field and has a strong interest in Pediatric Ophthalmic Genetics.
