Get to know Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. Howard J. Goodman, who serves patients in Great Neck, New Jersey.

Licensed in New York and New Jersey, Dr. Goodman is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon who specializes in arthroplasty, benign neoplasm of soft tissue, bone transplantation, musculoskeletal oncology, sarcoma, and secondary malignant neoplasm of bone. He attributes his success to his work ethic, his ability to provide quality care, as well as his passion for the field.

Professionally, he is serving patients at Northwell Health Physician Partners Orthopaedic Institute at Great Neck, which is the premier provider of orthopedic care in the region. The  expert team of sub-specialty trained orthopedic surgeons uses the most advanced technologies and techniques to provide individualized care for patients experiencing a broad range of musculoskeletal conditions. They perform thousands of procedures annually, from minimally invasive procedures to total joint reconstruction.

In addition to offering his expertise at Northwell Health Physician Partners Orthopaedic Institute at Great Neck, Dr. Goodman is affiliated with Lenox Hill Hospital, Long Island Jewish Medical Center, North Shore University Hospital, Northwell Health Cancer Institute, and Northwell Health Orthopaedic Institute. He also holds the academic title of Assistant Professor at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell in Hempstead, New York.

In regards to his educational background, he earned his medical degree from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City, New York. He then went on to complete his residency in orthopedic surgery at Maimonides Medical Center, followed by his fellowship in  musculoskeletal oncology at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School. Thereafter, he became board-certified in orthopedic surgery by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery (ABOS). The ABOS is an organization with the goal of establishing educational and professional standards for orthopedic residents and surgeons, as well as evaluating the qualifications and competence of orthopedic surgeons.

Orthopedic surgery or orthopedics is the branch of surgery concerned with conditions involving the musculoskeletal system. Orthopedic surgeons use both surgical and nonsurgical means to treat musculoskeletal trauma, spine diseases, sports injuries, degenerative diseases, infections, tumors, and congenital disorders. In order to stay up to date in his field, Dr. Goodman remains a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and the Brooklyn Orthopedic Society. 

Outside of the office, he enjoys spending time with his family. In addition to English, he speaks Hebrew.
