Yes, this is not an uncommon problem. This is usually associated with bacterial overgrowth of the small intestine or malabsorption or both. Yes, there are some significant things you can do to improve your symptoms. The presence of mucous is common in patients that are sensitive to gluten. That would be a good first step. If you go gluten-free, I believe many of your symptoms will resolve in 2 or 3 weeks. READ MORE
