Recently appointed Chief of Surgery at W. Backus Hospital, Mark Tousignant, MD, FACS, works at Backus Physician Services in Norwich, Connecticut. Prior to that, he was an engineer, and credits this knowledge to his success today. Specializing in a variety of general surgeries, including thyroid disease/cancer, parathyroid disease, hiatal hernia, reflux disease, gallbladder disease, breast surgery, abdominal wall hernia and colorectal disease, Dr. Tousignant was also one of a few surgeons to perform scarless surgeries for gallbladder disease in the state. He also conducts a bariatrics program at Backus, helping patients lose weight effectively.
