Get to know Urologist Dr. Carson Wong, who serves patients from Ohio and West Virginia.
Dr. Wong is a double board-certified urologist whose clinical areas of interest include endourology, robot-assisted surgery, stone disease treatment and prevention, oncology, laser surgery, benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), and minimally invasive treatment of urologic diseases. He is affiliated with Marietta Memorial Hospital in Marietta, Ohio.
Memorial Health System in a non-for-profit health system comprised of a network of two hospitals, outpatient service sites, assisted and long term care facilities and retirement community. Marietta served as the starting point for Westward expansion by early pioneers and is marked by the intricate pattern of brick streets, cascading flower-adorned lampposts, and the Victorian skyline of its vibrant downtown.
In addition to clinical practice, Dr. Wong’s research interests include ablative therapies for kidney cancer, laser surgery, new technologies for the treatment of stone disease, urologic cancer, and BPH. Prior to his current endeavors, he served as Chief of Urology at University Hospitals Ahuja Medical Center in Beachwood, Ohio; Medical Director of the Center for Minimally Invasive and Robotic Surgery at Parma Community General Hospital in Parma, Ohio; an Associate Professor in the Department of Urology at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; and Medical Director of the Center for Robotic Surgery at Oklahoma University Medical Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
A Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, Dr. Wong is board-certified in urology by both the American Board of Urology (ABU) and the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada. The mission of the ABU is to act for the benefit of the public by establishing and maintaining standards of certification for urologists, as well as to work with certified urologists to achieve lifelong learning to ensure the delivery of high quality, safe, and ethical urologic care.
After earning his undergraduate degree from the Faculty of Health Sciences at Queen’s University, Kingston, Canada, Dr. Wong went on to receive his medical degree from the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry at the University of Western Ontario, London, Canada in 1995. He completed his residency in urology at McGill University in 2000, followed by his fellowship in endourologic and laparoscopic surgery at the University of Miami Hospital and Clinics in 2001.
