Teaching and speaking
I have been very active in the teaching of medical students, medical and surgical residents and post-graduate GI fellows since joining the UVM faculty in 1995. My teaching responsibilities include the clinical teaching and mentoring of medical students, residents and fellows in both inpatient and ambulatory settings.
I provide formal lectures to medical students in the preclinical curriculum in small group and lecture formats. Daily teaching during service rounds in the hospital which has been as often as 6 months per year; Medical/Family Practice/Surgical house staff noon lecture series; and teaching GI fellows standard and interventional endoscopy are a regular part of my weekly schedule.
I have had the opportunity to personally mentor a number of students who have been specifically interested in Gastrenterology, Hepatology and GI research. I have served as the faculty advisor for several UVM students and also served as a mentor and advisor to graduate students.
