Get to know Pediatrician Dr. Gloria A. Rudisch, who serves patients in Brookline, Massachusetts.

A remarkable pediatrician and public health expert specializing in child health, Dr. Rudisch is the Director of Child Health Services at the Brookline Health Department in Brookline, Massachusetts. She can also be found on staff at Boston Children’s Hospital and specializes in developmental pediatrics and public child health services.

The Brookline Health Department is responsible for The Child Health Program, which deals with communicable diseases that are vaccine preventable, and plays a key role in preventing outbreaks of infectious diseases. Other responsibilities of the department are to provide consultations and lectures with the community about child health, enroll uninsured youth in the Child Medical Security Plan, and maintain violence prevention and overall safety activities in local schools, among others.

Throughout her academic career, Dr. Rudisch graduated with a medical degree from New York University School of Medicine in 1949, where she also received an Alumni Award from New York University Medical School for Community Service. Her postgraduate training includes her internship at Queens Hospital Center, as well as a residency in internal medicine at Montefiore Medical Center, and a fellowship in pediatrics at Boston Children’s Pediatrics.

An authority in her field, the doctor is board-certified in pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP). The mission of the ABP is to advance child health by certifying pediatricians who meet standards of excellence and are committed to continuous learning and improvement.

To boot, she is board-certified in internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Professionally, Dr. Rudisch is an active member of the American Medical Association and the Massachusetts Medical Society.

Pediatrics is the branch of medicine that involves the medical care of infants, children, and adolescents. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends individuals be under pediatric care up to the age of 21. Pediatricians provide medical care to people ranging in age from newborns to young adults. They are trained to examine, diagnose, and treat children with a wide variety of injuries and illnesses through all of their developmental stages, as they grow and mature.

On a more personal note, she attributes her success to being her dream to be a physician. Her spare time is dedicated to traveling, mountain hiking, and puzzles.
