Get to know Hospitalist Dr. Mary Ellen Pelletier, who serves patients in Doylestown, Pennsylvania.

An established hospitalist, Dr. Pelletier is affiliated with Doylestown Health Hospitalists. She joined Doylestown Hospital in 2003 as a private practitioner before becoming a hospitalist in 2005. She helped implement the inpatient electronic medical record and is involved in several quality and safety committees at Doylestown Hospital. She served as President of the Doylestown Hospital Medical Staff from 2017 through 2019.

Doylestown Health Hospitalists are physicians who specialize in the care of patients who are admitted to the hospital. At Doylestown Hospital, all of the hospitalists are board-certified in internal medicine.

Pertaining to her educational pursuits, Dr. Pelletier earned her medical degree from the Temple University School of Medicine, and completed her residency at Temple University Hospital.

In pursuit of clinical excellence, the doctor is board-certified in internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

In order to stay up to date in her field, she is an active member of the American Medical Associations, the Bucks County Physician and Hospital Alliance, and the Pennsylvania Medical Society.

Hospital medicine is a medical specialty that exists in some countries as a branch of internal or family medicine, dealing with the care of acutely ill hospitalized patients. The primary focus is caring for hospitalized patients and co-management with other specialties. Hospitalists take an active part in medical care and ensure a safe discharge for the patients they take care of. They are being increasingly involved in administrative roles, given their expertise and collaboration with various teams in the hospital.

Among her various accolades, Dr. Pelletier has been the recipient of the Top Internist and Physician Informaticist Award, and Louis Tretin Memorial Award.

Happily married, she and her husband have two children ages 16 and 18.
