What is this rash from?
Thanks for the question. I would have to see the rash, but if it itches, it is most likely hives. If not, retest for Lyme. If negative, you would have to consider forms of tinea, lupus, secondary syphilis, fungi other than tinea, a host of non-infectious diseases, even mycosis fungoides, which is malignant. It would be best to see a dermatologist. READ MORE
Rabies fear?
Thanks for the question. If the dog is healthy at 10 days, you are very likely safe. But you should clean the scratch carefully, apply triple antibiotic ointment, and check your tetanus vaccine status. READ MORE
Covid vaccination side effects?
Thanks for the question. These symptoms indicate that you are responding to the vaccine. They should subside within a week or so. If not, that would be the time to see your doctor, or earlier if it worsens instead of improving. READ MORE
Is it EBV or CMV?
Thanks for the question. This is a complicated list of symptoms. There is a long differential diagnosis. Considerations include more than viruses. There are diseases like lupus, syphilis, certain forms of leukemia and lymphoma, fungal infections, even hormonal diseases that can cause your precise combination of symptoms. Ask your doctor for a referral to either an infection specialist or hematologist. READ MORE
Covid vaccine question?
Thanks for the question. You can take any of the vaccines, but you will need two doses of the Johnson and Johnson vaccine, and likely two more doses of the others. READ MORE
Do we need the Covid-19 booster?
Some experts say you don't need the booster, others say you do. I would still recommend you get it, and you don't need to wait. Thanks for the question. READ MORE
Covid vaccine?
Thanks for the question. I am sorry, but those conditions do not serve as reasons for exemption from the vaccine. READ MORE
I have a dropping body temperature with COVID?
Thanks for the question. Your husband's temperatures are within the normal range, even if they are a bit low for him. They do not signify a problem. If either of you become short of breath, you should be seen. READ MORE
Vaccine booster?
Thanks for the question. You should definitely get the booster. Please also ask your doctor if it is possible you have immune suppression, and should have your general immunity tested along with a good physical exam. READ MORE
Hepatitis B and C transmission?
Thanks for the question. Your risk is extremely low if you do not have an open wound or scratch exposed to that blood, even less if you washed your hands afterward. READ MORE
What's in the covid vaccine?
Thanks for the question. The Johnson and Johnson vaccine has a small risk of clotting. The Pfizer and Moderna vaccines do not have a clotting risk. Oddly, multiple studies show the disease itself is less immunogenic and less protective than the mRNA vaccines. You can see a full list of vaccine contents online if you just search contents of each vaccine. Except for one or two deaths from severe allergy, there have been no deaths due to the mRNA vaccines in millions of doses. The death rate with the vaccine, and the causes of death, are the expected numbers without the vaccine. READ MORE
Vaccine for Hodgkin patient?
Thanks for the question. You should not use the Johnson and Johnson vaccine. Either of the mRNA vaccines would work, with the following caveats: Levels of immunity achieved with these, or other vaccines, are lower when your immunity is low, as it is with your illness; that said, Moderna levels are not as high as Pfizer, but last longer. This is in general, and may not apply to you specifically. I would recommend either mRNA vaccine. READ MORE
Blood pressure?
Thanks for the question. Your body is stressed, and you should have a thorough physical examination. There are many potential causes for your symptoms. READ MORE
Parasites under skin?
Thanks for the question. You should go. If there is anything visible, it can be removed and examined by a pathologist. READ MORE
I had my period for 2 months after covid vaccine? What’s happening?
Thanks for the question. This is not related to the vaccine. Please see your gynecologist ASAP. READ MORE
Newly vaccinated?
Thanks for the question. You can certainly drink coffee after the vaccine. READ MORE
COVID-19 weird symptoms?
Thanks for the question. This is not a covid symptom, so I advise going to the doctor. READ MORE
Is it safe for me to report to work?
Unfortunately, adults can acquire the virus that causes HFMD, and spread it without symptoms. However, if you avoid direct contact, and you are not coughing or sneezing, you may work. READ MORE
After the 2nd dose of Pfizer vaccine?
Thanks for the question. The vaccine itself is not the cause of your symptoms. COVID is one of many different infections that can cause your symptoms. Asthma and allergies, smoking and other irritants, some medications, and other causes also are possible. You should see your doctor to determine the source and best treatments. READ MORE
My ex girlfriend has HPV?
Thanks for the question. You may well have HPV, since it is transmitted by direct contact. A vaccine for the most common types is available up to age 24. You can be tested by your doctor for active disease, that might be transmissable. READ MORE
