Dr. Ntakirutimana attended Universidad de Montemorelos School of Medicine and received his medical degree in 1980. Following his relocation to the United States, he completed a residency in anesthesiology at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, a residency in general surgery at Harlem Hospital Center (1984 – 1986), a second residency in anesthesiology at SUNY Health Science Center at Brooklyn (1988 – 1989), as well as a fellowship in sports medicine at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics (2010 – 2011).
Subsequent to his education, the doctor attained board certification in anesthesiology and the subspeciality of pain medicine through the American Board of Anesthesiology. He is currently conducting research with IT pump therapy as part of a national multi-center study to improve pump therapy for all patients.
Dr. Ntakirutimana is a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists and the American Academy of Pain Medicine.
