  • What does it mean if you have chest pain in your heart when you have a bowl movement?

PUSHING DOWN DURING A BOWEL MOVEMENT IS CALLED A VALSALVA MANEUVER. THIS CAN CAUSE CHEST PAIN, HEADACHE, AND LIGHTHEADEDNESS. IT IS UNPLEASANT, BUT NOT NECESSARILY DANGEROUS. IF YOU ARE HAVING CONSTIPATION WHICH IT MAKING YOU PUSH DOWN EVEN HARDER, YOU NEED TO COMMIT TO TREATING THE CONSTIPATION SO THAT THIS IS NOT AN ISSUE. OTHERWISE, RELAX. READ MORE

  • Tender neck vein?

I can only answer some of this. As far as ear itching goes, sometimes you may be drying the ear by washing so much, thus making the problem. Try putting baby oil on a Q-tip and gently cleaning the ear. If this does not help the itch enough, try 1% hydrocortisone cream (over the counter). Talk to your doctor about the neck vein tenderness. It is unlikely to be anything significant at your age, but a good exam is always vital. The respiratory symptoms you describe can be asthma, but they can also be anxiety. Ask your doctor to help you decide what it is. You may need tests such as pulmonary function tests, a chest X-ray, and an oxygen measurement. Good luck. READ MORE

  • 15 month old child and covid?

I think most physicians feel that since the child has already been exposed, he should just stay home with parents. Children do not understand being away from their parents for 10-14 weeks and likely this anxiety will be more detrimental than covid is at this age group. But do keep alert for symptoms and watch especially for any respiratory distress. READ MORE

  • Temperature?

While 98.6 degrees Fahrenheit is considered “normal,“ usually temperatures in well, healthy people vary from 97-100 degrees. So, yes, for you, 99.4 is a normal temperature. READ MORE

  • Help me please?

I am fairy certain that you are not having heart attacks. That would be very unlikely in a 17 year old without heart disease. It is possible that you are still suffering from asthma. Many of the symptoms you describe can be related to anxiety. You need to see your doctor for a complete cardiopulmonary evaluation. If all is well, ask your doctor about anxiety. READ MORE

  • Bags under her eyes?

Several things can cause bags under the eyes. One is inadequate sleep. Teenagers are notorious for staying up late, and high school starts early. Teens need a lot of sleep compared to other ages. Another common cause is allergies. The better control of allergies, the less dark circles. Another cause is overall not taking care of your health: poor nutrition, no exercise, inadequate water intake, poor sleep. READ MORE

  • Tonsilitis?

Yes, you are right. Most strep throats are caused by group A strep. Having a different strain of strep does occasionally occur but is not anything to be concerned about. It will respond to the same antibiotics. It is not a sign of anything being wrong. READ MORE

  • Chance of sufficient antibodies after just one TDaP shot?

After one DTaP vaccination an infant does have temporary immunity. But without the boosters that trigger memory, that immunity is quickly lost. That is why the schedule is set up with so many booster doses. The immunity will certainly not be life long. Breast feeding gives some immunity through mother’s milk, but that is gone within a few months after stopping. Keep your child’s vaccines current READ MORE

  • How do you give a 3 week old a bath?

If the baby’s umbilical cord has gm fallen off, you can give the baby a bath instead of a sponge bath. Wet babies are wiggly, so there are many things made to help. I used to use a sponge in the shape of a baby lining the baby bath to prevent the baby from slipping. You could also use a towel. Some people bathe the baby in a sink. If you do, it is helpful to have a faucet that you can turn out of the way. One parent can sit in the bathtub and bathe the baby in the bath water and then hold the baby out to another parent to dry and dress. Some parents take the baby into the shower with them — this always made me nervous to think about. You can choose the option that sounds best for you. Most parents feel uncomfortable at first, but this should improve with time. READ MORE
