Pain management specialist, Dr. Javier Vilasuso joined Anesthesia Pain Care Consultants in August 2015 after working for 5 years with his father in Pain Medicine. He has extensive training and experience treating both benign and malignant pain syndromes, which comes from his time at the Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa along with Tampa General Hospital. His special training includes Intradiscal Ozone Chemonuleolysis for herniated/bulging discs, Spinal Cord Stimulation, SI Joint Stabilization and Fusion, and the Vertos Medical Mild® procedure.
Anesthesia Pain Care Consultants (APCC) was founded in 1996 by Dr. Ira Fox and Dr. Jay Lasner. The mission of APCC is to concentrate on expert diagnosis and treatment of pain, through the use of interventional techniques. Their staff consists of pain specialists dedicated to finding long term relief for individuals living with pain associated with accidents, surgery and chronic conditions.
Before embarking on his professional journey, Dr. Vilasuso earned his medical degree from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. He then attended the University of South Florida, completing his residency in anesthesiology and his fellowship in pain management.
Passionate about his profession, He has contributed to numerous conferences and case studies with regard to techniques used in the treatment of chronic pain patients. 5 years prior to joining APCC, he established his own medical practice called Miami Pain Specialists, where he treated chronic pain patients with a variety of interventional procedures throughout the spine. He was also with Doctors Hospital at Baptist Health South Florida in Coral Gables, overseeing all of the hospital’s pain consults.
Pain management is a branch of medicine employing an interdisciplinary approach for easing the suffering and improving the quality of life of those living with pain with the aim of improving everyday function. A pain management specialist is a doctor who specializes in pain medicine, focusing on the evaluation, treatment, and management of pain.

He speaks French and Spanish in addition to English, which enables him to treat a wider spectrum of patients coming from a variety of ethnic backgrounds.
