Holding a Bachelor of Arts degree in Molecular Biology from Wellesley College, Dr. Weigert graduated with her medical degree from SUNY Upstate Medical Center in 1980. She went on to complete her internship at the Overlook Hospital in 1981, followed by her residency in diagnostic radiology and her fellowship in abdominal imaging at the Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center in 1984 and 1985, respectively.
A Fellow of the American College of Radiology as well as a Fellow of the Society of Breast Imaging, she attained board certification in radiology through the American Board of Radiology (ABR) in 1984. The ABR is a not-for-profit physician-led organization that oversees the certification and ongoing professional development of specialists in diagnostic radiology, interventional radiology, radiation oncology, and medical physics.
Professionally, Dr. Weigert is immediate past-chair of the Accreditation Committee for Mammography and a Reviewer for ACR Accreditation in Mammography and Stereotactic Biopsies . She is a member of the Radiological Society of Connecticut, the American Roentgen Ray Society, the Radiological Society of North America, and the American Association of Women Radiologists.
