About

Dr. Christenson's private practice in family medicine, integrative-holistic medicine and Traditional Chinese Medicine, bridges conventional and traditional medicine with the best of east and west. The main elements of her therapeutic regimens include acupuncture, metabolic and nutritional therapy, herbal medicine, natural allergy remedies and pain management. In addition to her practice, Dr. Christenson is a teacher of qi gong, a certified reiki practitioner and a certified harp therapist. As the founding medical director of CHIMedicalCenter (Comprehensive Health Innovations), she has pioneered diverse health and wellness modalities for two decades. The center offers custom-designed individual healing programs that blend allopathic technology with holistic wisdom. Dr. Christenson  has continually expanded her  allopathic and integrative medical knowledge with ongoing studies in therapeutic music, integrated systems of life-force energy and various forms of meditative thought processes.   She is pleased to partner with each patient in their quest for ultimate wellness and believes in an authentic healing process that integrates all aspects of body, mind, heart and spirit.

CHIMedicalCenter’s home-like setting is a haven of health awareness, located in the scenic valley of the Ko'olau Mountain Range on the island of Oahu.  Designed with the ancient concepts of Feng Shui, the center has a unique relaxing interior setup that complements the exterior beauty of Kailua’s fresh mountain air, the sound of flowing streams, and the regenerative energy of an eternal Spring. Prior to establishing CHI Medical Center, Dr. Christenson's medical education and professional experience spanned three continents from her birthplace in Taiwan, where she came from a lineage of hundreds of years of doctors and healers, to Europe, where she received a medical degree and onto the United States, where her medical career and healing center has become her life’s journey. She is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology and medical acupuncture. In addition, she is Associate Clinical Professor with the Department of Complementary and Alternative Medicine at John A. Burns School of Medicine in the University of Hawaii and Associate Professor of the Institute of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine in Honolulu.

What do you attribute your success to?

  • The term "doctor" stems from the term for "teacher" and I believe a great teacher is first a great student. I have an insatiable appetite for knowledge and innovative thinking and throughout my personal studies and professional career, I have been fortunate to be guided by exceptional teachers who shared their wisdom, as well as, their uniqueexperiences of knowledge. I am always searching for solutions to eleviate pain and suffering and to honor the Hippocratic concept of "do no harm." As long as I continue onthisjourney to never acceptthe concept of anincurable disease, I know the future will both challenge and inspire me to live "outside the box" and explore the expanding circles of life-sustaining dimensions. Each and every patient issacredinspiration for me to answer thequestion and follow the quest for ultimate wellness.
