Is gum disease possible in a 3 year old?
It could be a gum infection or just dry mouth but not periodontal disease at age 3. You should take her to either the family dentist or a pediatric dentist. I hope this helps. READ MORE
I recently had an intense cleaning at the dentist because I had gingivitis. Will smoking make things worse?

Concern for gum graft recovery
It is still very early on in the healing phase for a gum graft. It can take 6–8 weeks for the gum graft to fully mature and heal. If the surgeon is pleased so far, I would accept that. Keeping smiles healthy for a lifetime, Dr. Rothstein is an accomplished periodontist who specializes in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of gum diseases and in the placement of dental implants. He is the Founder of A R Periodontics, PC in Livingston, New Jersey.
With experience and periodontal know-how, some of the treatments that he provides include: bone grafting, crown lengthening, gum grafting, scaling and root planing, cosmetic periodontal surgery, dental implant placement, and more. His patients are treated as individuals and offered customized plans to meet their unique needs.
In addition to maintaining a private practice, Dr. Rothstein serves as an Adjunct Assistant Clinical Professor in Periodontics at Rutgers School of Dental Medicine and as an attending dentist at Morristown Medical Center.
Born in Brooklyn and raised in Queens, he graduated with his Bachelor of Arts degree from the State University of New York at Binghamton in 1986. He then went on to obtain his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree and his Certificate in Periodontology from the Columbia University College of Dental Medicine in 1990 and 1992, respectively.
In good standing with a number of dental organizations, Dr. Rothstein is a member of the American Dental Association, the New Jersey Dental Association, the Essex County Dental Society, the Tri-County Dental Society, and the American Academy of Periodontology.
Through his membership in the New Jersey Dental Association, he served as President of the Tri-County Dental Society, Trustee from TriCounty as well as served on numerous councils and committees. He served as Treasurer of the New Jersey Dental Association from 2012 – 2013 and as Chair of the Finance and Investments Committee. From May of 2018 until May of 2019, he was installed as the President of the New Jersey Dental Association, representing the interests of dentists and public awareness throughout the state.

He is the proud father of 3 wonderful children – his daughters, Ilana and Rachel, graduated from Syracuse University in 2018 & his son, Jonathan, is currently enrolled at Bergen County Community College.
Happily married, he and his wife, Diane, wed in August of 2018. They reside in Whippany with their cats, Tiger and Smokey. They enjoy scuba diving, traveling, photography, watching the New Jersey Devils hockey, as well as drinking good wine with good food.
