Rixt AC Luikenaar, MD, FACOG opened her own practice "Rebirth Obgyn" in 2014 in Holladay Utah. Dr. Luikenaar has over 13 years of experience in the field of obstetrics and gynecology, making her well-versed in tending to the healthcare needs of women. Prior to her career, Dr. Luikenaar completed an extensive education in the Netherlands, her native country; then relocated to the United States for further training after a year in research at the Artificial Heart Research Laboratory with professor Willem Kolff, the inventor of the first artificial heart. After delivering her first baby during a clinical rotation in Curacao in the Caribbean she fell in love with Obstetrics and Gynecology. She spent over 10 years working for the University of Utah and became passionate about health care for the underserved including refugees and transgender patients. She spent several weeks working with the Gender Team in The Netherlands in 2012 and now cares for over 2100 transgender and gender nonconforming patients in Utah and beyond.
Currently Dr. Luikenaar is Board certified in OB/GYN, and has been recognized as a Fellow in the esteemed American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists for all of her outstanding work and dedication. She speaks around the world on healthcare, and has also contributed publications to her field and is currently performing research in her specialty of transgender health care.
