Is my mouth supposed to hurt after a bridge?
Depends on where it hurts but generally Short term yes, long term for more than a few days may indicate need for occlusal adjustments that must not be ignored to avoid serious complications READ MORE
Can you get rid of bad breath if you have periodontal disease?
Yes if the periodontal disease is treated and a healthy oral hygiene condition is maintained, that is including to brush the top of the tongue to remove bacterial plaque and dead skin cell that will appear on a tongue scraper. If this doesn’t solve the problem then there may be further gastric issues to address but typically not. READ MORE
Is anesthesia for a root canal safe?
There are always potential complications with any medication to include local anesthesia. But for most people having root canal treatment when live tissue is present can be extremely unpleasant and therefore the benefits of having less pain far outweighs the potential complications. In my experience only septicaine has caused an allergic skin reaction in more than a few cases, but these were self limiting and generally resolved with in a few hours using otc Benadryl. READ MORE
Can I use salt water rinse 2 days after implant surgery?
Yes and that’s recommended but only gentle rinsing will do. Too aggressively and you could lose the blood clot leading to a dry socket that can be very painful. This tends to happen more often on the lower than the upper due to less blood flow in the lower jaw. READ MORE
Can you bite into an apple with braces?

How do you get rid of denture pain?

Can dental implants cause high fever?
High fever is typically of viral infection and therefore not caused by implants as sources of fever. . Implants would only be the potential bacteria source with large bone grafts and a severe case of bacteria in the bloodstream.,That doesn’t happen often enough but it may. READ MORE
Can you have tooth pain without an infection?
Yes. Tooth pain can be caused by many reasons unrelated to infection because even though the outer layer are protected by a mostly mineralized surface called enamel the inner part is technically a living organ made up of modified bone called dentin, a ligament attaching the tooth to the bone called the periodontal ligament, and nerve tissue with a blood supply called the pulp. If the tooth is fractured this can cause pain as the fracture can be sensed throughout the living dentin. As the gum recedes off of the roots such as what can be cause by trauma from a toothbrush the exposed dentin can also cause pain or sensitivity to hot or cold. And on occasion biting on ice or super hot foods can injure the nerve thereby triggering a death of the pulp without infection. This is caused a sterile necrosis. READ MORE
Does a dental implant procedure require general anesthesia?
Actually soaking overnight in any kind of clear water or water based denture cleaner is good. It’s just that cold water is less likely to initially encourage bacterial growth as would warm water. The reason for why we soak it in water at night is simply because this particular type of Acrylic was engineered to be in a wet environment. If you allowed it to dry out it may warp ever so slightly to eventually cause pain or discomfort as the intimate contact between your jaw and the denture is compromised. You might get away with several drying out periods, but eventually the denture might not fit as it would if you kept it wet. So another question might be if it needs to be kept wet all the time why not just wear it 24/7? The reason is simply because the constant pressure on the bone will eventually cause the jaw to reabsorb and decrease the foot print and ridge height that the denture uses for support. Eventually the shrinking ridge gets flatter and flatter especially on the lower until the denture floats on the ridge and becomes difficult to control. This instability on the lower is due mostly because of movement of the tongue. Ironically the upper has the opposite effect and flat ridges tend to have greater retention. Taking out the dentures at night can double the useful life of the dentures by allowing a rest period; thereby reducing the rate that the lower ridge bone reabsorbs as compared to wearing the dentures all the time. What to eat after getting teeth implants?
If the implant is properly integrated in the bone and the restoration correctly fitted you should in theory be able to eat whatever you would typically would eat. The exception would be metal frameworks with acrylic bases and denture teeth supported by implants. These sort of restorations tend to flex more than porcelain fused to metal and therefore may fracture more often when fixed to implants under heavy stress. Porcelain fused to metal over implants may also fracture if the design does not give enough support to the porcelain as the glass can not flex. Respectfully Yours, Dr Wayne J Yee READ MORE

Would anesthesia be used during my root canal?
Local anesthesia is almost always used and applied at no additional cost by injection. IV sedation can be requested but can add $800 to $1,000 or more to the total cost. General anesthesia where one goes to sleep in a hospital surgical unit is rare as there is potential for complications once out of 300 sessions: some of which can be very serious. READ MORE
