Get to know General Surgeon Dr. Adrian W. Westcott, who serves patients in North Mackay, Queensland, Australia.

Dr. Westcott is a remarkable and skilled general surgeon with Mackay Surgical Group in Mackay, Queensland, Australia, where he practices alongside Dr. Muhammad Ashraf. He has a keen interest in breast surgery for breast cancer and breast-related issues, as well as endocrine surgery for thyroid conditions such as parathyroidectomy. 

With over two decades of experience in his field, he is also affiliated with Mater Hospital Mackay. 

Born and raised in Sarina, Dr. Westcott earned his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree from the University of Queensland Faculty of Medicine in St. Lucia, Queensland, Australia in 1996. He worked at a majority of Brisbane Hospitals, as well as the Townsville hospital during his training before moving back to Mackay, where he served a fellowship in breast and endocrine surgery at Mackay Base Hospital. 

In recognition of his expertise, he has earned the coveted title of Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS). He is a distinguished member of many professional organizations, including the Breast Surgeons of Australia and New Zealand and the American Society of Breast Disease. 

General surgery is a surgical specialty that focuses on abdominal contents including the esophagus, stomach, small bowel, colon, liver, pancreas, gallbladder, appendix and bile ducts, and often the thyroid gland. A general surgeon performs a wide range of abdominal surgeries for many forms of intestinal and abdominal wall neoplasms, gallbladder disease, gastric and pancreatic disease. They follow the patient through critical care and surgical recovery all the way to outpatient care. 

Outside of the office, Dr. Westcott’s interests include hockey, cricket and spending time with his wife and three children.
