  • Is local anesthesia used for varicose vein surgery?

Yes, vein treatments are all done under local anesthesia these days. Patients tolerate these procedures very well. It’s important to remain calm, get a good night’s sleep, stay well-hydrated pre and post-operatively and take a scrub shower the morning of procedures. Sometimes if procedural anxiety is an issue a light sedative can be taken 1-2 hours prior to the procedure. You will have to arrange a ride if you do take a sedative on the morning of surgery. Good luck with your surgery. This is it and it's perfect! Make it a great day. READ MORE
