Get to know Anesthesiologist Dr. Joe Amballur John, who serves patients in Baltimore, Maryland.
Dr. John is a board-certified anesthesiologist, and Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Dr. John is in the ACCM clinical Division at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center. The Hopkins Anesthesia team cares for patients from the pediatric age group to the geriatric group with compassion and care to ensure their safety before, during, and after surgery during both routine and emergency procedures.
Dr. John received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Harvard University and his medical degree from New York Medical College. He completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Framingham Union Hospital in Framingham, Massachusetts. After a residency in Anesthesiology and Critical Medicine at Johns Hopkins, he conducted his fellowship in Cardiac Anesthesia at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.
After a year as an Instructor at Harvard Medical School, he returned to Johns Hopkins in 2002 and since 2003 has been an Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine. At present, he also serves as the Director of Student Education for the Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine.
In addition to being a Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine, Dr. John is a member of numerous professional organizations including the American Medical Association, the American College of Physicians, and the American Society of Anesthesiologists. His professional activities include serving on several Editorial Boards and he has authored/edited 4 textbooks on Anesthesia and Critical Care Medicine.
